My name is Steven Herring and I have spent the last 18 years teaching and leading at international schools in China. Most of that time was at Xiwai International School where I started out teaching Math, PE and IGCSE Food & Nutrition before moving into leadership. Eventually I became Head of Middle School, looking after around 600 students and a great bunch of teachers from all over the world.

I have always enjoyed building school communities where students feel supported and teachers feel proud of what they do. I like keeping things hands on and practical, whether that is in a PE lesson, a classroom project or a staff meeting.

I hold a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Moreland University and a Business Degree in Resort Management from Southern Cross University. I am also finishing my District of Columbia teaching license. Outside of work I like swimming, cooking, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
